Telecom Technician 1 - Install/Repair

Company: MTC Technologies is a rapidly expanding telecommunications provider in Southeast Iowa. MTC is currently hiring technicians in existing and new markets.

Job Description: Telecom Technician I will primarily be installing and troubleshooting MTC’s voice, video, data, and wireless services. Technicians are expected to be customer focused and have a commitment to minimizing service outages. Must have initiative to use resources available to solve unique customer trouble reports.

Responsibilities: Telecom Technician I

• Conduct locates of buried fiber optical cables, perform maintenance & splicing as needed
• Positive attitude and professional demeanor with excellent listening, verbal and written skills, especially when dealing with customers
• Responsible for installing, repairing, and testing residential and small business telecommunication services and broadband services
• Set up, reconfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot customer’s wireless/wired home network and devices
• Work well with others to achieve common goals and to foster a cooperative climate, as well as work independently in the field with little         supervision
• Must work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays
• May work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces)
• May perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to lifting objects weighing over 75 pounds
• May perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions

Requirements:

• 3-5 years experience preferred. MTC is willing to train motivated individuals
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
• High School Degree or GED equivalent, trade school training preferred
• Ability to respond to after-hours callouts
• Enjoy and understand basic consumer technology
